Outfit Inspiration for Your Spring 2023 Portrait Session

I know you’re super excited to book your Spring Portraits, but the million dollar question: do you know what you’re wearing? 🤪

The graphic to the left is a beautiful example of some cohesive pieces with a nice, cool theme. Without all being the same color!! See how the skirt pulls blues from the navy pullover and the little blue button up? Adding patterns is a great way to create a cohesive look, just pull a couple of colors out and use it as your starting piece for your outfit planning!

Pastels are AWESOME for spring portraits, but if your style is more bold – have at it!! A good portrait captures YOU, and if that’s neon pink & bold chartreuse or light blue & sage green, let your outfits reflect you and what makes you happy.

Do you need more outfit inspiration for your spring portraits or family portrait session? Pinterest is always my go to, it can help you with color ideas and adding a little flare to what you would normally wear. Kick it up a notch and make sure you’re accessorizing! Scarves, necklaces, a nice belt, or hat can go a long way.

You could also choose your location and plan your outfits to coordinate with the backdrop, like this beautiful momma did to the right. In case you’re wondering, the beautiful azaleas in this photo are at one of my favorite parks in Salisbury, Hurley Park on April 10, 2022.

Ready to book your session? Just head over to the Session Scheduler page! I can’t wait to see you!

Valentine’s Day Mini Sessions

I’ve decided to start off 2023 with a BANG! My first day of Valentine’s mini sessions will be held January 28th and hosted at the beautiful Shutter Studio in downtown Concord. Styled beautifully for Valentine’s Day, this will be great to get some portraits of the kiddos or gift a session to someone special!

Since these sessions will be help indoors, we are NOT at the mercy of yucky weather in January. Woohoo! Here are the inspiration images I am using for styling… (images are from Pinterest for inspiration only and not my own)

I will have a small white chair (kid size), balloons (to hold and for the background), the “love” balloon and heart banners. Currently there are 12 spots available, I absolutely can’t wait for these! They are going to be SO much fun and just beautiful! If you haven’t checked out Shutter Studio yet, look them up on instagram.

Fall Family Wardrobe: Tips & Tricks for Your Photo Session

You may not need any help in this department, and lucky you! But most people have no idea where to start when it comes to pulling outfits together for a family photography session.

The perfect place to start? Pick a color palette, if you don’t know exactly which colors – choose either warm or cool. If it’s spring, try cool colors with some baby blues and light greens. Warm colors are excellent for fall and you can’t go wrong when you stick with colors in either of those families (NOT combining warm and cool). It will help everyone have a cohesive look without being too “matchy matchy.”

If you’re feeling fancy, you could try to pull colors from a pattern! Personally, I love Old Navy for family outfits. I feel like it’s super easy to find complimentary colors across the different departments and there’s something for everyone. Not to mention it’s very affordable when it comes to buying for multiple people.

Don’t forget to accessorize!! Add a scarf, a hat, some statement jewelry. Do just a liiiiittle bit more than you would for an everyday look. It really helps to level up your outfit and give your photos an air of sophistication 😉

Is styling your family just your thing? I would love to hear your suggestions to share with others. This can be such a hard thing for some, but please remember I’m here to help! Feel free to send me photos of what you’re thinking of wearing and I can give you some tips – or just a thumbs up if you’ve already nailed it!

Cheers! I can’t wait to see you all for family photos soon!

My Story of Love

An iPhone capture of our first big trip together (a cross country road trip CLT -> RENO and back!) taken at Lake Tahoe

Confession: Like many other photographers, I have had a lifelong love affair with photography. Growing up and using a little Canon Powershot to capture plants and insects around my neighborhood, and inheriting a Minolta XG-A to use throughout high school to freeze more “artistic” scenes and practice the basics, then in college with my Nikon D-5000 to finally learn the modern technological side of the art I love til now – I have seen and documented everything I love(d) through the lens of a camera.

Brianna & Phillip’s Super Fun Wedding

Where do I even start?! The Historic Lang Tree Plantation in Mooresville, NC was the PERFECT back drop for Brianna & Philip’s amazingly fun wedding day! Their day was absolutely gorgeous and was a wonderful example of the magic that happens with awesome vendors! The music from SoulJam was the pinnacle of the night – I don’t think Brianna & Philip would change a single thing about their unforgettable event. This was a wedding to remember, for sure! Fall Mini in Downtown Salisbury

Courtney & her family are so sweet, they hadn’t had family photos taken in YEARS and took full advantage of the season of MINI sessions! We found a beautiful spot in downtown Salisbury, NC – just a block from the amazing Go Burrito – and took some gorgeous family photos among the fall splendor! Mini sessions make it easier for me to get to all the families during the fall season and I’m so thankful we are able to pack SO much into each one. Enjoy these portraits during my favorite time of year 😍

Shelby & Brandon’s Engagement Session

This is one of those small world stories! Shelby found my photography on facebook through a sponsored ad (🙌) and reached out to me for more information – we hit it off right away and scheduled her engagement session with her fiancée Brandon. She mentioned our upcoming session to a coworker – that I have known for YEARS! They also had an upcoming session! The way I imagine that realization happening between them involves confetti and jumping up and down  😂 That totally didn’t happen but it’s exciting anyway! And then later when we friended each other on Facebook… Shelby is also friends with my brother’s girlfriend! Charlotte doesn’t feel like the small town I thought it was when I was growing up, and these moments are farther and further in between now, but I LOVE it when it does happen!

We ventured to my favorite spot, Frank Liske park, and it was like my first time there. Shelby & Brandon found some beautiful spots with me and I couldn’t be happier with these photographs. It’s humbling to think that these are just the beginning of their journey together – with the next chapter starting in October 2019! I. Can’t. Wait. Enjoy the love in these shots, there is TONS of it!

The Snoor Family

Life is SO good, y’all! I love this job, the people that it brings into my life and these beautiful fall days! The Snoor family was referred to me through a great friend and now I am so thankful to call THEM friends! Audrey and I connected immediately, and her sweet family have stolen my heart over the years. They are ALREADY booked for 2019 and I ALREADY can’t wait.

How many family portraits have you seen that involves casting Harry Potter spells with sticks?! Little man wasn’t feeling it anymore so momma had the amazing idea of re-living their Halloween costumes and casting some spells! I almost teared up… these are my people!

Little Emerson

We had so much fun at Emerson’s holiday mini session! It was a bit chilly out but the leaves in Hurley Park were the perfect backdrop for this little cutie. Her momma chose the perfect outfits and I am so proud of how these turned out – I wanted to print & frame them and they’re not even family! 😂

Christopher & Hailey’s Secret Garden Wedding

This past October I had the honor of photographing Christopher & Hailey while they declared the sweetest of vows and said “I do” in the mountains of Hendersonville, NC. Willow Falls event venue was the perfect back drop and we felt so tucked away in the cutest way possible. Their handmade details and elated guests made it the most perfect day for these two, and I live for all these moments!

I hope you all had an amazing holiday season – I’m so sad it’s over but I can’t tell you how excited I am for a new year. A little down time means I get to catch you all up on all the beautiful photos I’ve been working on this year. Thank you for being here and I can’t wait to share more love and art with you.

Getting My Blog On!

Appropriately titled… I am gettin’ my blog on today! Thank you SO much for being here!

When I started my photography business four years ago, I was most excited about creating artistic images that captured genuine emotion and beautiful light. I was LEAST excited about starting a blog 😂 Not that I don’t enjoy writing (because I actually do!) but I am an introvert through-and-through. Sharing my thoughts and feelings just seemed super daunting and, well, terrifying haha! But, I’m so excited to say that I have moved past that!

Paige was fantastic to work with from the moment we met her. She was a complete professional throughout the whole process while maintaining a calm confidence. Weddings can be stressful and chaotic but by doing her homework ahead of time she new what kind of photos we wanted and kept everyone on schedule. Thank you Paige for an amazing day!

What can I say about his amazingly talented artist! Paige has this magic ability to capture life and light in her photography. I have used her for newborn photography & family portraits. Recently she has shot my boudoirs and let me tell you she makes you feel comfortable & confident! Her process is professional from shooting to post editing. Her natural look is by far one of the best in our area and I myself am a photographer so I wouldn't trust anyone else unless they have the same level of attention as Paige. I cannot say enough about her!

Megan J.

We first met Paige as our wedding photographer back in 2013! She did a wonderful job capturing every moment of our wedding, she was also super creative in capturing my bridal portraits! Most recently, she shot my maternity photos and will soon become our family photographer. She is creative, personable, and a joy to work with! She gives great direction and waits for the perfect snap to show the personality of a couple.
