Appropriately titled… I am gettin’ my blog on today! Thank you SO much for being here!
When I started my photography business four years ago, I was most excited about creating artistic images that captured genuine emotion and beautiful light. I was LEAST excited about starting a blog 😂 Not that I don’t enjoy writing (because I actually do!) but I am an introvert through-and-through. Sharing my thoughts and feelings just seemed super daunting and, well, terrifying haha! But, I’m so excited to say that I have moved past that!
The photo above was captured by the gorgeous & talented Laura Miller and it’s me (in the middle) with my bonus daughters, Kamryn & Kaylee – I feel like it says more about my personality than most of the *few* photos I have of myself. I love to laugh, I’m pretty sure I’m the friendliest person I know, and I have a very tight, close knit circle.
This year, I told myself that I would start blogging for several reasons. Not only did I feel like it would really help me professionally, but I genuinely believe there is a lot of personal growth to be had here as well! I love to write, but even more, I want to share more of my personality than just the images from my D750.
More than meets the eye
I like to think of myself as more than JUST a photographer. When you see me every year for your family portraits, I feel more like a family friend. On your wedding day, I will be by your side ALL DAY. On that day, I do everything from taking pictures of your dad tearing up the first time he sees you, to calming your nerves. I help with sewing on buttons, keeping a timeline, encouraging shy guests to DANCE, and then finally delivering the very images you will look at for the rest of your life. It is a BIG job, and to say that it is my life would be a very accurate statement. But I definitely don’t feel like I am JUST a photographer most days. It’s super important to me that my clients love me and I love my clients.
On October 20th of this year, I will be celebrating one full year of being a full time photographer. And truthfully, I can’t tell you how thankful I am to be here; my clients (YOU!) make that possible! I hope to use this space to share beautiful images, my heart, and my super fun adventures along the way. Again, thank you for being here and I can’t wait to blog more!! 😜
