I’m so glad you’re here! Blog posts range from showcasing my latest portrait sessions to my best tips & tricks, thank you for reading!

I realized the other day… many of you may not know a lot about my journey of becoming a photographer, and ultimately why I decided to focus on family portraits.

To get started, we’ll have to go all the way back to my high school years! I took photography as an elective my junior year at North Meck High School and instantly fell in love. We learned how to photograph on film and then develop the film; I knew then I always wanted to have a camera in my hand.

It came time to decide what to do for college – I didn’t consider that I could make a living with photography so I opted for a “real” degree and eventually graduated with my Masters of Art in Architecture. All the while I purchased my first DSLR (Nikon D5000) and started teaching myself the technology and art of digital photography.

My first job after graduating from UNC Charlotte was working for a dessert manufacturing company as their Food Photographer! What a dream come true… Well, for a while. I came to realize that even though I really enjoyed the technical aspect of my job, I really missed the human component and capturing those EMOTIONS and connections!

To the left you see young Paige! Testing out my new (then) camera and being as artsy fartsy as I could.

I won’t lie, when I started photographing people and weddings I realized I had SO much to learn! Composition and angles came natural for me, but POSING and DIRECTING was all new. It took me a while to realize that was a part of my job, not just simply taking a photo! After honing my skills for a few years, I started photographing more and more families. And man did I fall in love all over again.

I realized how special these photographs would be, even if the kids are too young to know it, but these images will be how they remember their loved ones one day. Sorry – I know that’s deep for a Thursday afternoon! But truly, I am a big picture kind of gal and I always come back to how these moments frozen in time will be true treasures some day.

And now as a mom, I don’t want a day to go by that I don’t remember my sweet and stubborn toddler exactly the way she is right now! I have such a heart for families now and documenting those hard, sweet, beautiful and amazing times together.

There you have it – there’s a little about my history and passion for photography. Just promise me something, after you receive the digital files from your family session PLEASE order prints to keep or use to hang around your home. Target and Walmart may be accessible options, but ordering directly through your gallery will ensure you receive the best quality products on archival photography paper that will last a lifetime (or longer).

Are you ready to schedule your next family photography session? Schedule with me right away through my calendar, fill out my contact form or email me (paigealisaphotography@gmail.com) directly.

Cheers! Can’t wait to capture you & your family.
